“Accumulating the past and visually unraveling the pre-sent

” Time does not simply flow, but my brushstrokes build up and shape it one by one, capturing fragmented memories. The thin lines drawn on the faded velvet are piled up like traces of time, and the past and present intertwine in a single picture. The shapes are arranged in an orderly and sometimes chaotic manner, but also in a way that shows the will to not forget even the smallest of memories, with the accumulation of silhou-ettes from countless repeated brushstrokes.

This exhibition begins at the intersection of my per-sonal exploration and historical research. Our modern history has been shaped by a series of disconnections and connections, and I am moving between them, re-claiming traces that have been lost.

What are relationships, and how do we remember each other? Living in the present, within the passage and ac-cumulation of time, I consider the role that art can play in the layers of personal memory and history.

In the deep space of black velvet, I weave fragments of memory. The organic lines, drawn in thin scribbles, are traces of personal emotions, but I also try to capture the weight of history. The contradictory emotions of pain and healing, disconnection and connection, collide within the same screen, and I wanted to visually unravel the meaning of ‘ONGO JISHIN’.
